DUSK MOOD, by HELEN EMMA MARING First Line: Falling away to a shadow Last Line: Foam on a stream. Alternate Author Name(s): Payne, Lorrin A., Mrs. | |||
Falling away to a shadow -- How would it seem to be The mauve of hills at dusk, The shade of a tree, The deepening side of a cloud, Or depths of a rose? Shadow -- and stirred by the lightest Wind that blows. Moved at the whim of sunlight, Or moonlight, or less -- The dark on a pond With a water-lily's caress. The fall of a leaf, A misty blowing curtain, Less than the touch of scent, Not to be seen for certain. What is a shadow? The negative side of a dream, Smoke in the wind by day, Foam on a stream. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EONS GONE by HELEN EMMA MARING THE STREET MASHER by HELEN EMMA MARING AD LESBIAM by GAIUS VALERIUS CATULLUS SONNET: 107 by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE SLOW TO COME, QUICK A-GONE by WILLIAM BARNES BODY AND SOUL: A METAPHYSICAL ARGUMENT by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT EURYDICE by FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILLON THE DROWNED BOY by JOHN GARDINER CALKINS BRAINARD AMENDS by MAXWELL STRUTHERS BURT SPRING FANTASIES: 2.
