HYMN OF PROGRESS, by BYRDIE L. MARTIN First Line: Dauntless as the pioneers / that pressed Last Line: Moving, ever, with the dawn. Subject(s): Pioneers; Seashore; Ships & Shipping; Beach; Coast; Shore | ||||||||
Dauntless as the pioneers That pressed onward to the sea, Half-mad prophets, half-clad seers, Haunt the road that summons me. Long the road, obscure the goal, Beckoning to my troubled soul; Somewhere in the western sea Lie the isles that call to me. When I have finished my long trek, I shall stand upon the deck Of my dream ship and sail on, Moving, ever, with the dawn. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SEASHORE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS EASTERN LONG ISLAND by MARVIN BELL THE WIND IS BLOWING WEST by JOSEPH CERAVOLO IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN by LUCILLE CLIFTON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER EMPTIES INTO THE GULF by LUCILLE CLIFTON GEOGRAPHY AS WARNING by MADELINE DEFREES POWER FAILURE by MADELINE DEFREES BUT WHEN I SAW GRAND CANYON by BYRDIE L.
