WILD ROSE, by FREDERIC ROWLAND MARVIN Poet's Biography First Line: Do I believe? O lovely rose Last Line: So I believe in thee! Subject(s): Faith; Flowers; Gardens & Gardening; Love; Roses; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
DO I believe? O lovely rose, Outside the garden-close, Unplanted, wild and free! How could I doubt His skill, Whose love created thee? The fields are red with clover, And daisies star the lea, But not in all the meadow Is flower so dear to me. 'T is in thy face forever, His heavenly face I see Who made the garden roses, And left my wild rose free. Do I believe? O fairest all prairie-flowers. As winds believe in midnight, As stars believe in midnight, So I believe in thee! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION by MINA LOY A MODERN PREACHER by FREDERIC ROWLAND MARVIN |
