BEAUTY, by CHARLES MARIE PHOTIUS MAURRAS Poet's Biography First Line: Beauty, that burns enshrined in the depths of my heart Last Line: No longer sees the bar 'twixt life and death! Subject(s): Beauty | |||
Beauty, that burns enshrined in the depths of my heart, Gleaming sword, from my side may you never part Or, if you must become a bitter thing, Beauty, still to mine inmost spirit cling. Burn and consume me, O my only sun, That your strong spear, your strong vermilion spear With daily purer flames more deeply sear My soul until new being it has won, And my very reason, maddened with your breath, No longer sees the bar 'twixt life and death! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN DIVINELY SUPERFLUOUS BEAUTY by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE BEAUTY OF THINGS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS LIFE FROM THE LIFELESS by ROBINSON JEFFERS REARMAMENT by ROBINSON JEFFERS SHANE ONEILLS CAIRN by ROBINSON JEFFERS STARRY SKY by CHARLES MARIE PHOTIUS MAURRAS |
