SILENCE, by IDA MCDANIEL First Line: It is still / in the desert Last Line: Brings me solace. Subject(s): Deserts; Food & Eating | ||||||||
It is still In the desert. Only fragile Mariposa lilies And a giant tree of thorns Bear witness to my anguish. Like sentinel of Time The cool saguara scans The spectrum-tinted veil Across mysterious distances. Ineffable fragrance Floats upon a breeze As gentle as the voice Of gratitude. It is still. The pungent whisper Of the desert Brings me solace. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WAITRESSING IN THE ROOM WITH A THOUSAND MOONS by MATTHEA HARVEY CANDIED YAMS' by TERRANCE HAYES DINNER OF HERBS by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN THE BANQUET SONG by KENNETH KOCH |
