CHRIST'S COMING, by CLYDE MCGEE First Line: The peoples long have waited Last Line: Exalt his holy name! Subject(s): Jesus Christ; Judgment Day; Justice; End Of The World; Doomsday; Fall Of Man | ||||||||
The peoples long have waited The coming of their Lord; Nor have they ever doubted He would fulfill His Word; And now a spirit stirreth, The whole earth hears the cry As down the road of ages The Christ comes riding by. He comes unto the nations In dreams and hopes of peace, In earnest expectation Of day when wars shall cease; He comes to the forgotten, The children of the night, He comes the strong Defender Of justice, truth, and right. He comes amid our dangers In courage for our need; He comes in quiet challenge To prove our faith with deed; He comes to save our cities, To lift the fallen high; Behold Him as He cometh, The Christ now riding by! Receive Him, then, ye peoples, Who made a Cross His Throne; The sceptre of His spirit, Let all the peoples own. O ye, who wait His coming, Be every heart aflame! Lift high, lift high, His Banners, Exalt His Holy Name! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON ETHNIC DEFINITIONS by ELEANOR WILNER THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL by WILLIAM BLAKE THE END OF THE WORLD by GORDON BOTTOMLEY 1X1 (ONE TIMES ONE): 20 by EDWARD ESTLIN CUMMINGS ONCE BY THE PACIFIC by ROBERT FROST |
