"Another dab of powder near your eye, More rouge on that right cheekbone, there, be quick! We're ready, Jodie. (Mary, she won't die, You know that babies can be mighty sick.) Be sure you laugh at all those same old jokes, (Miss Fatty said she'd stay till we got back.) The somersaults go big. They're dumb, those folks; That toot's your cue, and don't forget the whack." Good God, be kind, our baby mustn't go, (Joe's got that laughter goin' mighty fine,) Be good to him, O Lord, be good to Joe, And give him now some sure-for-certain sign. The squeaky pig! At last! It rang the bell. Thank you, Dear God.
