CHANGELESSNESS, by LOUIS MERTINS First Line: I dream tonight of winter wind Last Line: Around the pole. | |||
I dream tonight of winter wind That hid the hills with the first snow, Transmuting forests out of mind With blow on blow. Or, through the long night whimpering About shrill corners of the house, A childish giant simpering In youth's carouse; When crisp and clear on wintry sky Cold fingers strewed the milky way, And Cassiopeia riding high Touched hands with day. Now, that same wind which flung the leaf On crusted snow, a wilding soul, Twirls Ursa Major reef by reef Around the pole. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SURFACES AND MASKS; 4 by CLARENCE MAJOR VOLPONE: TO CELIA by GAIUS VALERIUS CATULLUS AN APPEAL TO CATS IN THE BUSINESS OF LOVE; SONG by THOMAS FLATMAN THE IVORY CRADLE by AUGUSTE ANGELLIER TO HASEKAWA by WALTER CONRAD ARENSBERG QUESTION AND ANSWER by MATHILDE BLIND SHEPHERD by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN MILTON AT CRIPPLEGATE by CHARLES WILLIAM BRODRIBB |
