REVERENCE, by MARGARET MOORE MEUTTMAN First Line: The spring this year, as other years Last Line: I know why spring kneels down. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
The Spring this year, as other years, Ran through a breathless night That shook a thousand violets down The hill and out of sight. The Spring this year, as other years, Knelt on her narrow knees, And talked with God, in drops of warm Blue rain on apple trees. And I who bend above a crib In the lighted, noisy town, And tuck a little elbow in, I know why Spring kneels down. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD NOEL by MARGARET MOORE MEUTTMAN |
