MENDED WINGS, by JEAN R. MILLER First Line: I found you wounded, feathered mite Last Line: To freedom ... Fly! Subject(s): Birds; Freedom; Liberty | ||||||||
I found you wounded, feathered mite, With wild bewildered eyes, That made me know my brother more, Myself no less despise. For man has been your enemy Too long, O timid heart, For you to feel my warmth and care, Or trust a human part, And now I clip the bounds of earth And give you to the sky. There! Beat your mended wings again To freedom ... fly! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOVE THE WILD SWAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS AFTER TENNYSON by AMBROSE BIERCE QUARTET IN F MAJOR by WILLIAM MEREDITH CROSS THAT LINE by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE EMANCIPATION by ELIZABETH ALEXANDER |
