IMMORTAL DREAM, by JESSIE MORRIS First Line: Despite world chaos, certain men will dream Last Line: And depth of one man's dream that lives and sings. Subject(s): Immortality; Sonnet (as Literary Form) | |||
Despite world chaos, certain men will dream. Great hearts will be immune to pessimistic Fear, and plan achievement with artistic Skill and confidence. A harnessed stream, A clinic for the ill, a wireless beam, A cancer cure, an ardent ode, a fistic Crown; all these are gained through ritualistic Faith by men who live in vision's gleam. And so we lift our minds up to the skies, Exalting this most unpretentious man Who zipped a monoplane with silver wings Around the world. He makes us realize That space is just as far as is the span And depth of one man's dream that lives and sings. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WAS THAT REALLY A SONNET? by ANSELM HOLLO RETICENT SONNET by ANNE CARSON SONNET: OF THREE GIRLS AND OF THEIR TALK by GIOVANNI BOCCACCIO WHAT THE SONNET IS by EUGENE JACOB LEE-HAMILTON ON A MAGAZINE SONNET by RUSSELL HILLARD LOINES THE HOUSE OF LIFE: THE SONNET (INTRODUCTION) by DANTE GABRIEL ROSSETTI |
