Cold gray mist, o'er a gray sea swelling --
Cold gray waves, on their shores rebelling --
Cold gray dawn, of the day foretelling --
Out of the gray -- a ship propelling --

In, to the dock she nosed her way,
Out of the misty veil of gray;
A phantom gliding -- in fancy's play --
A ship in the mist, at break of day.
