RECREATION, by HELEN PRICKETT OITTO First Line: The sunshine's reflection / on tiny, bright billows Last Line: In god and in man. Subject(s): Faith; Nature; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
The sunshine's reflection On tiny, bright billows, The slow-moving shadows Of green, waving willows, The sheltering rocks, So towering and cool, And the plunge of the trout In the neighboring pool, Call me out in the open, With rod, hook and fly, To joyously live Under blue summer sky. A medley of bird songs From reed, bush and tree They tell of all Nature, So wondrous and free. What majesty, stateliness, In those fir trees That whisper of rest, In the fairy-like breeze! My tired heart forgets That it knew any ban; And I learn a new faith In God and in Man. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION by MINA LOY THE FLAMING HEART by RICHARD CRASHAW SATIRES OF CIRCUMSTANCE: 14.
