HEALING, by BESS HEATH OLMSTEAD First Line: I thought I could not bear another spring Last Line: Forget-me-nots may gather, and heart's-ease. Subject(s): Flowers; Healing; Spring; Cures | ||||||||
I thought I could not bear another spring Without you here, ecstatically to share The wonder of the first brave woodsy thing Piercing the sodden leaves. I could not bear The first hepatica, the curling fern, The tender bloom that used to cheer and bless; And the rapturous robin's carol of return Only gave accent to my loneliness. But oh -- today, quite suddenly I know That it is spring out yonder where you dwell, Where through bright meadows happily you go, Eager to find the first white asphodel -- That you too, under lacy blossoming trees, Forget-me-nots may gather, and heart's-ease. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ONE VOLUME MISSING by RITA DOVE READING HOLDERLIN ON THE PATIO WITH THE AID OF A DICTIONARY by RITA DOVE BANGLA DESH: 2.
