OUR COUNTRY'S FLAG, by MARY SITZ PARKER First Line: Our country's flag; emblem we love Last Line: True to our flag of liberty. Subject(s): Flags; United States; America | ||||||||
Our Country's Flag; emblem we love, Her stars gleaming, like those above, Her silken folds, in silence wave, For liberty, homeland to save, She spreads her folds, for right attuned, With Justice, Honor, Truth illumed. O'er our brave sons, a beacon light, A guide to glory -- love of right. Chorus Our Country's Flag, for peace wave on The peace freedom of Washington, Our constitution, crown with song, Beautiful thing, wave on, wave on. God guide our Flag, our President, In God we trust, with faith intent, Faith that made our forefathers free, One land one flag in unity A perfect union, nation great, A golden realm our Ship of State. America pray our youth may be, True to our Flag of Liberty. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS SHINE, PERISHING REPUBLIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS SHINE, PERISHING REPUBLIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS WATCH THE LIGHTS FADE by ROBINSON JEFFERS AFTER TENNYSON by AMBROSE BIERCE MEETING YOU AT THE PIERS by KENNETH KOCH |
