ANTARES, by BIMSLEY PEABODY First Line: The earth has whirled its little men around the sun Last Line: Hot and blood red is the heart of him! Subject(s): Earth; Hearts; Life; World | |||
The earth has whirled its little men around the sun, And you are here again, oh sanguine star, Filling my cauldron heart with your flame afar, Though my soul stands ashamed at things not done, Since last you rode in the August sky, Hot and blood red in the August sky. Do you know that man dreams till his life is done, And fires his heart with a brand from your fire, While he watches his day ravel out with desire? Oh, I could tell you, Antares, of such a one, And show you the cauldron heart of him, Hot and blood red is the heart of him! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BROKEN BALANCE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SUBJECTED EARTH by ROBINSON JEFFERS GEOMETAPHYSICS by MARGARET AVISON NIAGARA by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOPHISTICATION by CONRAD AIKEN I SEE CHILE IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR by AGHA SHAHID ALI WASHING OUR HANDS OF THE REST OF AMERICA by MARVIN BELL THE EARTH IS A LIVING THING by LUCILLE CLIFTON LIKE AN EAGLE by BIMSLEY PEABODY |
