(So the Italians say:)
"E poi muori!"

I have loved Italy,
Lingered by Baiae's Bay,
Pondered on Pompeii,

Watched vivid flame-clouds fly
Forth from Vesuvius, play
Red on opacity,

Roamed through, reflectively,
(Climbing past Pirates' Way)
Ravello's aërie,

Seen Capri radiantly
(Ouched by the waves' array)
Smile up at moonlit sky:

These things, and more, have I
Looked on, by Night or Day,
In their translucency.

Yet all illusory
Hills, Isle, Sea, City stay...
What these sweet scenes deny

You give incomparably—
Naples, yourself, portray...
"O, vedi Napoli,
E poi muori!"
