THE STARRY HEIGHTS, by MARIE TELLO PHILLIPS First Line: At this dark pass we part, our ways divide Last Line: Of joy is there to cloud a happy face. Alternate Author Name(s): Yeagle, Charles J., Mrs. Subject(s): Sky; Stars | ||||||||
At this dark pass we part, our ways divide. I shall not say that you remain behind, But I go on, not back, and you will find I am not like Lot's wife. You may decide To walk this way with me and be my guide Along this hilly path, and be resigned To travel on with me. I have in mind The starry heights I reached with one who died. I never thought to tarry where the grime Of muddy waters creeps to foul the earth. Above on that high hill I know a place Where melodies, with lilt of song and rhyme, Intone sweet music I would hear. No dearth Of joy is there to cloud a happy face. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE EPIC STARS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HYMN TO THE STARS by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS CHRISTMAS TREE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS CLEMATIS MONTANA by MADELINE DEFREES THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE by JAMES GALVIN TO SEE THE STARS IN DAYLIGHT by JAMES GALVIN |
