DAKOTA HOME, by MABEL KINGSLEY RICHARDSON First Line: Dakota, I have looked from heights on places Last Line: Empire and haven, my dakota home. Subject(s): Home; South Dakota | ||||||||
Dakota, I have looked from heights on places Regal with beauty, glory and grace of Spain; Yet what were these to match your open spaces, The far horizons of your circling plain. Dakota, there are worlds of pomp and splendor, High vaulting domes and gilded spires that rise; Sufficient is the quiet prairie wonder, The benediction of your sunny skies. Kings on their thrones are heavy scepters wielding, The round world spreads her braiding roads to roam; Mine be the grassy track at sun-down yielding Empire and haven, my Dakota home. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PIONEERS OF SOUTH DAKOTA by CHARLOTTE LOUISE BERTLESEN WHAT OF BEAUTY by OLIVE CHRISTENSEN HOMETOWN by CHARLES BADGER CLARK JR.
