YOUTH, by EDWIN GARNET RILEY First Line: I'll not grow old in spite of years Last Line: Shall love and laugh and still be gay. Subject(s): Youth | ||||||||
I'll not grow old in spite of years, In spite of toil and grief and tears; Something of youth shall yet remain To garner up life's golden grain. I'll not grow old though over all My splendid dreams, the shadows fall; I'll build new castles in the air With which those dreams but ill compare. I'll not grow old though bent in form And gnarled by angry wind and storm; My soul untouched by time's decay, Shall love and laugh and still be gay. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BETWEEN THE WARS by ROBERT HASS THE GOLDEN SHOVEL by TERRANCE HAYES ALONG WITH YOUTH by ERNEST HEMINGWAY THE BLACK RIVIERA by MARK JARMAN SCHOOLS OF LITTLE FISH by MARVIN BELL |
