LAUGH OF A SAILOR, by LILLIAN S. RING First Line: The dimpled waves of the ocean Last Line: But never a thought of me! Subject(s): Sailing & Sailors; Sea; Ocean | ||||||||
The dimpled waves of the ocean Carried my heart to sea. The prayerful tears of a mother Made never a change in me. A coral reef in the bottom Of the sea, in the shifting sand, Caught my heart as the fickle waves Dropped it for other gains! The twinkling stars in heaven Dimmed in sad distress And blackness filled the earth and me And anguish filled my breast But the carefree laugh of a sailor Floats over a purple sea With the love of salt and sea and life But never a thought of me! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS |
