TEST, by HELEN PURCELL ROADS First Line: Not those elate upon the mountain height Last Line: Shall find in christpeace, after victory. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Not those elate upon the mountain height Of his transfiguration, who declare Their will to rear crude tabernacles there, Are worthy liegemen in the Master's sight. True ministers of grace are those who dare Descend with him into the irksome night Below, where blind souls whimper for the light, And tortured bodies wait their healing care. Not weary sleepers in Gethsemane,Who wake to flee from sin's pursuing host, Then go a-fishing back to Galilee But those who labor though the cause seem lost, To spread abroad the flames of Pentecost, Shall find in Christpeace, after victory. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
