This is my joy. My babe thrice blest, Warm, downy head close to my breast. Clear eyes that look in faith to me For things desiredall needs that he Requires to livehis food, his rest. Then older grown, at time's behest, To join young blood upon the crest Of thought and workefficiency This is my joy. My son! O, just to know the best I gave, returns in you; the quest I failed, you carry on. You see The vision; gather from life's tree The fruits I crave but may not wrest. This is my joy. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE STUDY OF HAPPINESS by KENNETH KOCH SO MUCH HAPPINESS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CROWD CONDITIONS by JOHN ASHBERY I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#21): 1.
