Classic and Contemporary Poetry
IN THIS HOUR, by VIRGINIA WALLACE RUNYON First Line: Do not grieve Last Line: And the birds away. | |||
Do not grieve For the flower gone, The frozen leaf And the fallen cone. Nor for the seed Sealed in the husk, Nor the sap the root leads Back into dusk; The chrysalis sewn Or the swallow fled, And the river poised In her crystal bed. This grieving is ours Who yet must stay, With ice in the heart And the birds away. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TSCHAIKOWSKY by VIRGINIA WALLACE RUNYON SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: SARAH BROWN by EDGAR LEE MASTERS SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: MRS.
