MY MOTHER'S QUILT, by MARGARET RUSHMER First Line: My mother cut the pieces Last Line: That handiwork of love-time. Subject(s): Mothers; Quilts | ||||||||
My mother cut the pieces, And sewed them one by one Into a beautiful pattern, Until the quilt was done. Some were bright and glowing, Others a duller shade, But all brought out the colors Of flowers, down in our glade. I see her face before me With eyes and cheeks aglow, Threading her needle swiftly, Which made the quilt grow. She sewed the pieces together, Then placed them on the white, And beneath her nimble fingers Several blocks were done by night. At last the quilt was finished, Quilted in stitches fine, And breathlessly we both looked on That handiwork of love-time. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MAKING QUILTWORK by SIMON J.
