ANDANTE FOR AUTUMN, by HERMAN SALINGER First Line: Evening was brown and misty / the window Last Line: Marched untriumphant past. Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Wind; Fall | ||||||||
Evening was brown and misty, The window lights were paled; The tired winds rejected What things the earth exhaled. Wings were heavy with earth-haze. Thoughts old and ill-defined, Abandoned flight and drooping Fell back against the mind. Then sleep, like a flag defeated, Sank down beside its mast. All night the victor armies Marched untriumphant past. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV ALIEN WOMEN; SONGKHLA, THAILAND by KAREN SWENSON |
