A MID SONG FOR SPRING, by YORK SAMPSON First Line: Early come the pasque flowers Last Line: When the winter's long! Subject(s): Nature; Seasons; Spring; Winter | ||||||||
Early come the pasque flowers, Early come the rains, Winter was a dusty one No snow on the plains. We who love the cold's thrust And the ice and snow, Almost left our prairie homes For we missed it so. We who thrill to lashing sting Of the winter gales, Missed the crisp, crunching call Of the frozen trails. Early come the lilac buds And the robin's song; But not half as welcome as When the Winter's long! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE A CERTAIN POET by YORK SAMPSON |
