A HEART SONG, by
First Line: On my ear there fell a cry of hate!
Last Line: A mother's heart was singing to its child.
Subject(s): Mothers; Singing & Singers

On my ear there fell a cry of hate!
And it filled my soul with gloom,
For torture seemed to be part of it -- and despair.
But ere the gloom possessed me wholly -- quite,
I heard a Mother singing to her child.
All the gates of Heaven seemed to open wide
As the song burst forth upon the air;
It breathed of love, of love Divine!
A Mother's heart was singing to its Child.
