BEAUTY SHIELDS, by
First Line: The snow has fallen softly through the night
Last Line: Be suffered and ignored by wise humanity.
Subject(s): Beauty; Nature; Snow

The snow has fallen softly through the night
And buried in an ermine coat, a blight
Of dust
And debris from our harried sight.

We see white, frozen beauty shield the eye
From ugliness. Dissembling is no lie;
We trust
The smile which conquers every sigh.

So spreads the mantle of a gracious charity
Above the sordidness and futile vanity
That must
Be suffered and ignored by wise humanity.
