BEAUTY SHIELDS, by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN First Line: The snow has fallen softly through the night Last Line: Be suffered and ignored by wise humanity. Subject(s): Beauty; Nature; Snow | ||||||||
The snow has fallen softly through the night And buried in an ermine coat, a blight Of dust And debris from our harried sight. We see white, frozen beauty shield the eye From ugliness. Dissembling is no lie; We trust The smile which conquers every sigh. So spreads the mantle of a gracious charity Above the sordidness and futile vanity That must Be suffered and ignored by wise humanity. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BRIGHT SUN AFTER HEAVY SNOW by JANE KENYON SNOW FALLING THROUGH FOG by WILLIAM MATTHEWS THE SNOW FAIRY by CLAUDE MCKAY NOT ONLY ESKIMOS by LISEL MUELLER A BLACK HILLS IDYL by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN |
