MY MOTHER, by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN First Line: All shining crowns do not adorn the brows of kings Last Line: And through a full life's usefulness, keep sweet ... Be kind. Subject(s): Beauty; Love; Mothers | ||||||||
All shining crowns do not adorn the brows of kings; Nor scepters rule by might alone. As precious wings Are often cased in chrysalis of slender mold And jewels reckon more of worth than weight in gold, My Little Mother measured greater than she knew; In spirit boundless as the ether-vaulted blue, Her quiet mission the sustained embodiment Of Beauty's strength. Her inmost beingconfident Of truth and justice in the cosmic planwas strong To live a message of exalted love and song; To face impending hardship with undaunted mind; And through a full life's usefulness, keep sweet ... be kind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE A BLACK HILLS IDYL by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN |
