MY MOTHER, by
First Line: All shining crowns do not adorn the brows of kings
Last Line: And through a full life's usefulness, keep sweet ... Be kind.
Subject(s): Beauty; Love; Mothers

All shining crowns do not adorn the brows of kings;
Nor scepters rule by might alone. As precious wings
Are often cased in chrysalis of slender mold
And jewels reckon more of worth than weight in gold,
My Little Mother measured greater than she knew;
In spirit boundless as the ether-vaulted blue,
Her quiet mission the sustained embodiment
Of Beauty's strength. Her inmost being—confident
Of truth and justice in the cosmic plan—was strong
To live a message of exalted love and song;
To face impending hardship with undaunted mind;
And through a full life's usefulness, keep sweet ... be kind.
