LOVE'S MYSTERIES, by RICHARD JOSEPH SCHOECK First Line: When I behold the peace and beauty of Last Line: Into the unknown ocean whence it came. Alternate Author Name(s): Schoeck, R. J. Subject(s): Love - Nature Of | ||||||||
When I behold the peace and beauty of Your spirit, then I think myself of small Account within this world of despairing love; Though only deep in woods is peace, yet all Alone I walked one night in bliss, so lonely That night into another world, a world Of silver beauty: Love for you, dear, curled Around like Tristram's for Isolde only. Love is not one word and then another, Love is not turned on and off so readily, Nor love and life be parted from each other; Love is like a dawn that rises steadily, Then sinks back slowly, holding long its flame, Into the unknown ocean whence it came. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RESCUE THE DEAD by DAVID IGNATOW BUTTERFLIES UNDER PERSIMMON by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 27 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 30 by JAMES JOYCE HE WHO KNOWS LOVE by ELSA BARKER LOVE'S HUMBLENESS by ELSA BARKER SONG (IN THE LUCKY CHANCE) by APHRA BEHN |
