PRELUDE, by LYDIA SHARPE First Line: No life - no sound! / the night's caress Last Line: In the chord of day. Subject(s): Silence | ||||||||
No life -- no sound! The night's caress Of dreams abound In loveliness. No word -- no note Except the flute In a robin's throat: A song minute. A pale gleam riding The wayward breeze Brings out from hiding Nebulous trees. The earth is hushed But no star glows, For dawn has brushed The sky with rose And light transcends Long night's delay, As the prelude ends In the chord of day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A SONG OF SILENCE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON TANKA DIARY (9) by HARRYETTE MULLEN 7 A.M., A MAN AND A WOMAN by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR |
