AN AUTUMN MOOD, by GRACE CAROLINE SISON First Line: Chill autumn announces the death of the summer Last Line: And mournfully sing their sad song to the glen. Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
Chill autumn announces the death of the summer By low-wailing winds that return once again To chant their monotonous dirge to the forest And mournfully sing their sad song to the glen. The green of the hillside is changed now to somber And flowerlets have bowed their small heads to the earth; The brook in the meadow is still from its laughter And birds' songs no longer are filled with their mirth. Chill autumn announced the death of the summer By low-wailing winds that return once again To chant their monotonous dirge to the forest And mournfully sing their sad song to the glen. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV SINGING PINES by GRACE CAROLINE SISON |
