This is the place where the foot Should step softly and slow ... Where it should stop -- for here One can stand below Red-buds misty with silvery-pink blooms, And eyes can look up and see Thousands of white-winged butterflies Clinging to a dogwood tree. Oh, the flight of blossoms is much too swift! Almost any moment now Those white-petaled wings will lift And flutter away with the breeze, So let us stop here -- let us stay A long time under these trees. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PROBLEM OF DESCRIBING TREES by ROBERT HASS THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MIDNIGHT EDEN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN REFLECTION OF THE WOOD by LEONIE ADAMS THE LIFE OF TREES by DORIANNE LAUX THE BLACKBERRY PICKER by CHRISTINE SLOAN |
