TO MOTHER, by GERALDINE SMITH First Line: Oh soul so sweet! Around thy tomb Last Line: "remember, my dear, I'm watching o'er you." Subject(s): Mothers | ||||||||
Oh soul so sweet! around Thy tomb Green grasses grow, red roses bloom. And Thou did'st love all nature new: The morning star -- the evening dew, Majestic mountains, towering high, The fleecy clouds across the sky; With each coming season Thou wert in tune. Each flower, each bird was to Thee a boon. But Thou art gone! oh heart of gold, Leaving us stricken, heartache untold. Still I can hear, o'er that far, weary way, Thy loving voice, as Thou would'st say, "Be brave, have faith, and always be true; Remember, my dear, I'm watching o'er you." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE |
