MY DESIRE, by LUCY H. KING SMITH First Line: When earth's door shall close for me Last Line: And -- deathlessly. Subject(s): Future Life; Immortality; Retribution; Eternity; After Life | ||||||||
When earth's door shall close for me, And the end of life shall come, How I'd love to fall asleep Like a child, And -- listlessly. As the child who hard hath played, Fearless, weary, drops the toys, Folded are the hands and still, Blissful, calm, And -- unafraid. Longs my soul at peace to be, In a land where dreams are sweet, Then refreshed from sleep, again Wake, live on, And -- deathlessly. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IKON: THE HARROWING OF HELL by DENISE LEVERTOV LEEK STREET by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR UNABLE TO FIND by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR THE AFTERLIFE: LETTER TO STEPHEN DOBYNS 3 by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE AFTERLIFE: LETTER TO STEPHEN DOBYNS: 1 by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE AFTERLIFE: LETTER TO STEPHEN DOBYNS: 2 by HAYDEN CARRUTH WRITING IN THE AFTERLIFE by BILLY COLLINS BEETHOVEN by LUCY H.
