DECEMBER, by VIVA I. STARK First Line: How beautiful are god's great trees in spring Last Line: That our december shall not be in vain. Subject(s): December; Spring | ||||||||
How beautiful are God's great trees in spring With fragrant crowns and lacy scarves of green. Today no Maytime loveliness is seen; And autumn's golden leaves no longer cling To arms, outstretched toward Heaven's dome of blue, Nearer because of beauty shed about; Beauty that had survived without a doubt; The chilling winds in winter's retinue. Our Springtime beautiful with hope alive Will find that life is sunshine blent with rain. From storm and stinging frost it shall survive; So may we tower above the clouds of doubt, And scatter so much beauty all about That our December shall not be in vain. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD |
