A DAY, by WILLIAM LEROY STIDGER Poet's Biography First Line: What does it take to make a day? Last Line: A lot of love along the way. | |||
What does it take to make a day? A lot of love along the way: It takes a morning and a noon, A father's voice, a mother's croon; It takes some task to challenge all The powers that a man may call His own: the powers of mind and limb; A whispered word of love; a hymn Of hope -- a comrade's cheer -- A baby's laughter and a tear; It takes a dream, a hope, a cry Of need from some soul passing by; A sense of brotherhood and love; A purpose sent from God above; It takes a sunset in the sky, The stars of night, the winds that sigh; It takes a breath of scented air, A mother's kiss, a baby's prayer. That is what it takes to make a day: A lot of love along the way. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MIRACLE OF A MAJESTIC MOOD by WILLIAM LEROY STIDGER SILENCE IS THE SOUL OF PRAYER by WILLIAM LEROY STIDGER IN THE HEART OF A CHILD by WILLIAM LEROY STIDGER JUDEAN HILLS ARE HOLY by WILLIAM LEROY STIDGER LEST THOU FORGET IN THE YEARS BETWEEN by WILLIAM LEROY STIDGER COUNTRYWOMEN by KATHERINE MANSFIELD LOVE AND A QUESTION by ROBERT FROST OUTSIDE THE TOYSHOP by JANE BARLOW LONG LIVE LIFE by JACQUES BARON VERSES TO SOME FRIENDS RETURNING FROM THE SEA-SIDE by BERNARD BARTON |
