FLOOD CONTROL, by LOUIS STODDARD First Line: You should have seen the flooded creek today Last Line: Conceding them life nor questioning their reasons. Subject(s): Brooks; Streams; Creeks | ||||||||
You should have seen the flooded creek today, So changed you wouldn't know it, running strong With the strength of little streams escaping clay For a while, and frothing, but doing nothing wrong. Creeks need to go on a tear, reviewing a way Of flowing they haven't known for ever so long. Though they run wild they will be back by May With broader banks, singing a better song, Reserving a place for weeds and frogs in their seasons, Conceding them life nor questioning their reasons. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DOWN THE BROOK by ROBERT FROST A CLEARING BY A STREAM by ALICIA SUSKIN OSTRIKER STREAM by ALICIA SUSKIN OSTRIKER THE ASPEN AND THE STREAM by RICHARD WILBUR WEST RUNNING BROOK by ROBERT FROST BIRCH STREAM by ANNA BOYNTON AVERILL THE VALLEY BROOK by JOHN HOWARD BRYANT YOUR WORLD by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON |
