GYPSY GHOST, by LUELLA STONE First Line: Tonight you heard wild birds in flight, then sent Last Line: Swift silent ships like whispers in your eyes. Subject(s): Birds; Gypsies; Gipsies | ||||||||
Tonight you heard wild birds in flight, then sent An answer....Some still night some shrill bird's flight Will steal your soul....Your haunted soul will scent Thin haunting breath in incense smoke, will sight Bright flames like Indian arrows... dying, high White lines like silent fingers in one plea.... Your heart will hear one eerie wild bird's cry, Your wild bird's wings start beating to be free To follow one sun's gold, some lonely star To purple-patterned, palette-painted lands.... These topaz rainbow beads could lead you far To bright fleet-footed dreams in Gypsy bands. Sometime you'll see some wine leaf on some tree, One white winged sea repeating wind-swept skies, Some copper-colored camplight call... I see Swift silent ships like whispers in your eyes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE ASSIMILATION OF THE GYPSIES by LARRY LEVIS THE SCHOLAR GIPSY by MATTHEW ARNOLD THE GYPSY by PHILIP EDWARD THOMAS TO A GIPSY CHILD BY THE SEA-SHORE by MATTHEW ARNOLD THE GYPSIES [OR, GIPSIES] by HENRY HOWARTH BASHFORD DESIGN OF A BRIDGE by LUELLA STONE |
