GUGLIELMO MARCONI, by IRENE KIRBY SURENSON First Line: Marconi's dead' the words I heard are true Last Line: While men on earth still keep your vision high. Subject(s): Marconi, Guglielmo (1874-1937) | |||
"Marconi's dead." The words I heard are true That came across the air, and yet I knew You are not dead though placed within your grave. The genius cannot die of one who gave The radio marvel to all the world of men. So long as our lives endure, again and again Your name will live and unborn children heed The unseen waves that leap with lightning speed Across a thousand borderlines. You stood Aloof as stars in marching brotherhood, Yet with a single turn of your brain you drew The world together while we humans grew In unison forever. May we grow More worthy of all your genius, we who know You are asleep, you who can never die While men on earth still keep your vision high. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LINES WRITTEN IN KENSINGTON GARDENS by MATTHEW ARNOLD UNMANIFEST DESTINY by RICHARD HOVEY SEVEN AGES OF MAN, FR.
