MY LITTLE HOUSE, by ZEPHYR WARE TARVER First Line: I love my little house with its broad gallery Last Line: Unpretentious? Perhaps -- but love lives here! Subject(s): Home | ||||||||
I love my little house with its broad gallery, Where dewy breezes flit, soft, caressingly. The high-ceilinged rooms, so virginal white, Bathed in warm benediction of morn's rosy light. And when night's purple shadows embrace, instead, Like a tired happy child, it goes sleepy to bed. For all the day long such sweet secrets it tells That I am greatly bewitched, and live under its spell. As a Rock of Gibraltar in the scheme of my life, It holds me securely 'gainst outer-world strife; A dear little house brimming over with cheer. Unpretentious?
