CHRISTMAS DAWN IN FLORIDA, by FRANCES FREEMAN TAYLOR First Line: Broad bands of rose span all the eastern sky Last Line: That we may, in thy strength, go forth to live. Subject(s): Christmas; Nativity, The | |||
Broad bands of rose span all the eastern sky -- A sleepy mocking bird stirs, quietly voicing a few short notes Before the rush of song that greets the coming day; The tall poinsettias lift their flaming heads in welcome, Crimson and purple bougainvillea banners wave in an ecstasy of joy; The breeze from off the quiet bay whispers an answer to the tall palm's hymn; From his bed of rose and mauve and gold the glorious sun leaps up, Calling to happy life the waking earth. So may Thy coming, Babe of Bethlehem, Whose birth this day we celebrate, Wake to new hope each tired heart and burdened soul And by Thy shining light illuminate our way, That we may, in Thy strength, go forth to live. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DIFFERENT VIEWS; A CHRISMAS DUET by JOSEPH ASHBY-STERRY AN UNMERRY CHRISTMAS by AMBROSE BIERCE CHRISTMAS IN CHINATOWN by AUGUST KLEINZAHLER CHRISTMAS TREE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS ISAIAH'S COAL by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
