WAVES AND TIDES, by JOHN RENWICK TAYLOR First Line: In sweep the waves to wash the sands Last Line: Of laughing ever after. Subject(s): Laughter; Sea; Seashore; Tides; Ocean; Beach; Coast; Shore | ||||||||
In sweep the waves to wash the sands That tide and reach will capture, While men who stand upon the shores Will yield the final rapture. Yet should there be no common end For men who drown their sorrow, The waves will cast their bones of grief Upon the shores tomorrow. And should there be no common end For men who stay their laughter, There still will be great tidal waves Of laughing ever after. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SEASHORE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS EASTERN LONG ISLAND by MARVIN BELL THE WIND IS BLOWING WEST by JOSEPH CERAVOLO IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN by LUCILLE CLIFTON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER EMPTIES INTO THE GULF by LUCILLE CLIFTON GEOGRAPHY AS WARNING by MADELINE DEFREES POWER FAILURE by MADELINE DEFREES |
