RECURRING YULETIDE, by JOSEPH TWYMAN First Line: How good our every festival appears Last Line: And to receive in knowing how to give. Subject(s): Caregivers; Children; Festivals; Maturity; Childhood; Fairs; Pageants | ||||||||
How good our every festival appears How full of meaning as we learn to know! And as the mystery of childhood clears, See the Christ stand in purifying glow; His greater power and strength directing still The footsteps and the hand, the sight, the will; Each glad approach, regardful of the years, Foretells the presence better understood, And as the time of understanding nears, Maturer life appreciates the good In that great heart that taught us how to live And to receive in knowing how to give. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FESTIVAL OF GIOVEDI GRASSO by MATTHEA HARVEY I DEFINE THE DARKNESS CORRECT: THE FESTIVAL OF THE FRERES LUMIERES by ELENI SIKELIANOS THE DANCE (2) by WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS AT CASTERBRIDGE FAIR: 1.
