BABY'S SONG, by KATHARINE TYNAN Poet's Biography First Line: The very song the blackbird sung Last Line: To the first song the blackbird made. Alternate Author Name(s): Hinkson, Katharine Tynan Subject(s): Babies; Blackbirds; Singing & Singers; Infants | ||||||||
THE very song the blackbird sung When Love and all the world were young My year-old baby sings. Sweeter than anything with wings. A little song, with catch and trill Made of few notes and little skill, A song of dancing feet Of babes and birds and all things sweet. The baby dances as he sings Sweeter than anything with wings, And sways his golden head To the first song the blackbird made. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A POET TO HIS BABY SON by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON BABYHOOD by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN INFANCY by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG BALLAD OF THE LAYETTE by WAYNE KOESTENBAUM A TOAST FOR LITTLE IRON MIKE by PAUL MARIANI THE PAMPERING OF LEORA by THYLIAS MOSS ONE FOR ALL NEWBORNS by THYLIAS MOSS IN THE THRIVING SEASON by LISEL MUELLER |
