WHEN I AM OLD, by ELEANOR VOSWINKEL First Line: When I am old my hands will find Last Line: When I am old. Subject(s): Old Age | ||||||||
When I am old my hands will find Some tasks to do that I have missed In busy days. Some wounds to bind, Perhaps the leisure to be kind, When I am old. When I am old, and work is done, The lovely things that seem to fade Like dewdrops in the morning sun -- Illusive, vague -- may yet be won, When I am old. When I am old, and night at last Comes creeping softly on hushed feet, May only loving looks be cast On my still face, as friends go past, When I am old. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AT EIGHTY I CHANGE MY VIEW by DAVID IGNATOW FAWN'S FOSTER-MOTHER by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE DEER LAY DOWN THEIR BONES by ROBINSON JEFFERS OLD BLACK MEN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON A WINTER ODE TO THE OLD MEN OF LUMMUS PARK, / MIAMI, FLORIDA by DONALD JUSTICE AFTER A LINE BY JOHN PEALE BISHOP by DONALD JUSTICE TO HER BODY, AGAINST TIME by ROBERT KELLY SONG FROM A COUNTRY FAIR by LEONIE ADAMS FIRE FALL IN THE YOSEMITE by ELEANOR VOSWINKEL |
