BUT NEVER LIFE -, by LILLIAN R. WAGNER First Line: There shall be many mornings after Last Line: Ceaseless . . . . Subject(s): Future Life; Retribution; Eternity; After Life | ||||||||
There shall be many mornings after, When I shall waken To hear the sounds of early dawn -- The first faint blue breaking the sky, The breathless hush of buds opening; There shall be many nights When sounds of dry stillness Will beat upon my senses Until they, too, beat the same dry rhythm; And there shall be days -- Days and days -- each an eternity Echoing the vast completeness of my loss. There shall be mornings, days, and nights After you have gone -- Mornings . . . days . . . nights . . . .
