MUSIC, by W. C. A. WALLAR First Line: The instruments remind us. Then the heart Last Line: Shall rise, and find the stars, and sin no more. Subject(s): Music & Musicians; Religion; Theology | |||
The instruments remind us. Then the heart On its own strings creates the melody. Desire, and Joy, and Love call memory To bring its orchestra; and with high art The soul's full tones and timbres play their part. The woodwinds sigh to Nature's harmony; Trumpets and drums set timid courage free, And teach the Will to heed the skyward chart. Let me hear Israfel with Gabriel's choir, And from Canopus or Aldebaran My herald obbligato shall outsoar The angelic airs, and through the Vault aspire Till the Dark hear me, and Earth's lowest man Shall rise, and find the stars, and sin no more. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MYSTIC BOUNCE by TERRANCE HAYES MATHEMATICS CONSIDERED AS A VICE by ANTHONY HECHT UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN SHINE, PERISHING REPUBLIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE COMING OF THE PLAGUE by WELDON KEES A LITHUANIAN ELEGY by ROBERT KELLY OATS FOR PEGASUS by W.
