TELL NO ONE, by NINA WILLIS WALTER First Line: Sh! Tell no one / that you hear voices, child Last Line: Into their narrow patterns. Subject(s): Children; Childhood | ||||||||
Sh! Tell no one That you hear voices, child. Let no one know You hear the full earth speak With tongue That only you can understand. Let it speak to your heart, And listen carefully To what it says. Treasure its messages, But keep them to yourself, Lest others say, "The child is queer," And try with fumbling hands To mold you Into their narrow patterns. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN CHILDREN SELECTING BOOKS IN A LIBRARY by RANDALL JARRELL COME TO THE STONE ... by RANDALL JARRELL THE LOST WORLD by RANDALL JARRELL A SICK CHILD by RANDALL JARRELL CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS ON THE DEATH OF FRIENDS IN CHILDHOOD by DONALD JUSTICE THE POET AT SEVEN by DONALD JUSTICE PATTERNS by NINA WILLIS WALTER |
